Digital scribing
Conquer screen fatigue with remote visuals
Changing circumstances require different tools: I have been drawing remotely since the spring of 2020 when the pandemic began having an impact. I have covered webinars, virtual conferences, online workshops and project launches with both live streamed illustration and visual summaries.
How does digital scribing work:
Live illustration and streaming
Same as with graphic recording, I listen for key points and themes that resonate and draw these into a lovely visual. With a digital approach I have a lot of flexibility with how the event can be covered: in a live illustration scenario I join the video call as a participant and draw the work on an iPad that I can plug into my laptop and replace my Zoom video with the iPad screen. Organisers can then pin that video as and when they see fit – this could be during breaks or at the end of the event.
Visual summaries
But sometimes you might have a packed schedule with lots of presentations or points to get through, right? I have noticed many clients can find video calls exhausting with simultaneous information sources to process through one screen. So, if you need to focus energy on the task at hand I can also be a silent observer and draw a visual summary you can use afterwards. This works well for tighter schedules, event follow up newsletters and social media engagement and I can also work from recordings if I’m not available on the event date.
What you get:
A 30-minute set up call to go through the details
A separate tech run session if live streaming
An experienced, empathic visual translator
Digital, high resolution image files on the same day or couple of days afterwards
A “common sense” image license for fair sharing
My packages start from £450 for digital scribing 1 hour events and £700 for visual summaries with more detail.

How can I use digital scribing
Like graphic recording, digital scribing can help:
make abstract concepts easier to understand
retain information better
spark conversations
generate ideas
The digital nature of the work widens the range of options:
I can draw live to spice up a talk or gather ideas from a group discussion
I can be a silent observer to keep the focus on your activities and create visual summary to remind everyone of the key points after the event
Extra studio time can be useful for illustrating more detail or cover breakout group outputs in depth.
Don’t forget I can help develop event ideas further into other illustrations such as values posters, vision maps, process journeys, case studies and so on. Based in Cardiff, United Kingdom, I can attend your virtual event almost anywhere as long as our time zones align enough. While I usually cover online sessions by myself I also have access to a pool of brilliant illustrators and scribes who I can bring along to bigger events.
